MOTHER NATURE OIL PAINTING SERIES
His paintings depict different times and emotional stages experienced and being experienced by Mother Nature. These images reflect directly on how mankind has treated Mother Nature throughout its existence.
The beautiful human figure represents the character of Mother Nature. The figure is painted in a pseudo-realistic manner with an ethereal quality of non-permanence, capturing a fleeting impression of Mother Nature's emotional state. Intertwined and also part of Mother Nature are the leaves which are also rendered in a pseudo-realistic manner. However the leaves are a solid quality of permanence done bas-relief, falsely reassuring the viewer that even though Mother Nature experiences a cyclical death it is thought to be eternal.
Ever since Charles' family immigrated to Canada, he has always been fascinated by our Canadian Autumn. The changing colour of the leaves was a wonderful experience, which he continues to enjoy, and loves to incorporate in his art. The abuse of our environment has been a topical subject. In his paintings, Charles humanize our struggling natural environment through a portrayal of our Canadian Mother Nature experiencing a number of different emotional times. Charles paintings depict these emotions in a Canadian Autumn setting.
